Musicals

In collaboration with lyricist Stephen Watson, composer Jamie Hitel has completed two musicals: That Pig, Morin! and A Stranger Love. A third musical is currently in development, set in Budapest during the Hungarian Uprising of 1956.

That Pig, Morin!

Set in nineteenth-century France, this musical follows small-town draper Morin, who faces accusations of improper conduct toward a young woman during his return journey from Paris. When the town’s most prominent citizen and eligible bachelor, Labarbe, agrees to intervene on Morin’s behalf, he encounters the alleged victim—the enchanting Henriette.

Based on a short story by Guy de Maupassant, this charming romantic comedy features six principal roles (three male, three female) and a supporting chorus.

A Stranger Love

This contemporary musical comedy examines the complexities of modern relationships through four interconnected characters: Kate, who loves Nick; Nick, who loves Andrew; Andrew, who loves himself; and the enigmatic Ros, whose affections remain delightfully ambiguous. The story weaves together a troubled marriage, an uncertain affair, and a one-night encounter to explore love, life, and mortality—though not necessarily in that order.

Designed for intimate venues, the production requires only four performers (two male, two female) plus musicians.
